New Jersey has a prime location for success. We are located on land that has fertile soil for farming and plenty of trees for lumbering. We are on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, so we have access to shipbuilding and fishing, too. The weather in New Jersey is amazing during the summer, with the high in the 80's and the low in the 60's. This is the perfect weather for outdoor activities, and you get the reward of cool, crisp nights. During the winter, it can get a bit cold, but the cold also stops the spread of life threatening diseases. The southern colonies do not get this advantage because they have warmer winters than New Jersey. The cost per 50 acres of land in New Jersey in the 1660's was around 5 shillings.
